Easter wishes to all our members and their families, enjoy the break and the Easter eggs!!

The gym is closed for normal classes until 15th April, the office is closed until Wednesday next.

Well done to all our gymnasts who competed at the National Series in Dublin at the weekend, where over 1,600 gymnasts took part over the 2 days. The standard was exceptionally high with large numbers competing in each level. There was wonderful talent on display and we are so proud of each of our gymnasts for their incredible performances and positive attitude throughout, they really did their club and coaches proud!

Special congratulations to the medal winners – Kate (Gold on Beam and Bronze All Around), Aoibhinn (Silver on Beam) and Niamh (Silver on Vault), well done girls, what a wonderful achievement!

Thanks to the parents of the gymnasts who drive them to and from training week after week and support them along their journey, giving up their day to attend the competitions, it’s so encouraging for the girls. The hard work and commitment by the gymnasts is incredible and we are delighted to see some medals making their way back to Athlone once again!

As always, we couldn’t have gymnasts competing at this level without the sheer commitment and enthusiasm from Elisha, Saoirse and Tara and for this we are extremely grateful. What a privilege it is to give the gymnasts such a wonderful opportunity of competing and medalling against so many clubs throughout the country, it really is something special and one we, as a club, never take for granted. The work that goes on behind the scenes is quite phenomenal and without it, we could not even dream of being part of such events. Take a bow coaches and gymnasts!

Wishing our gymnasts the very best of luck at the weekend heading to the National Indoor Arena for the National Series Competition – a special day for Sarah and Emilia for their very first competition. Good luck to Kate, Isla, Aoibhinn, Niamh, Saoirse, Laoise, Emilia, Eva, Sarah, Mya and Katie. The girls have all been working so hard over the past few months preparing for the weekend and we are so proud of each one of them. Have a fantastic time girls, make memories, we can’t wait to see you performing!

A very special Mother’s Day wish to all the mothers, grandmothers, step-mothers, foster mothers, aunties and role models who are part of our gymnastics community, hope you’re all getting the special treatment today!

Thinking also of all those mothers who are no longer with us.

Dads – hope you’re all on duty today and absolutely spoiling the ladies in your life, give them a break from the routine, you know they deserve it!

Wishing all our gymnasts, coaches and families a very happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Looking forward to taking part in the Athlone St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, 19th March, hope to see lots of our members out in the club colours on the day. Fingers crossed the weather will be favourable and we will be celebrating a big win on Saturday!

Best of luck to the Irish Rugby team going for the Grand Slam, and especially Athlone’s Robbie Henshaw who has made his return just at the right time.

St. Patrick’s Day

We are closed on Friday, 17th March for St. Patrick’s Day, classes are running as normal on Saturday and Sunday, for gymnasts who have been registered for term 3.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

We will be taking part in the annual Athlone St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, 19th March. All members are welcome to come along and join in the fun wearing club colours.

Term 3 Update

Please take note of the following :-

• Term 3 starts on Saturday, 18th March for all members who have re-registered.
• We are closed on Saturday, 25th March, as some coaches and gymnasts will be attending a National Series Competition.
• Easter Holidays begin on Monday, 3rd April and weekly classes return on Saturday, 15th April.
• Our Easter Camp is full, we will be in touch with everyone in advance who has registered for the camp.
• Can we remind parents that children should not wear/bring jewellery or mobile phones to classes.
• Children with long hair should have it tied up before coming to the gym, for safety reasons.
• We are not currently accepting any new registrations for next term. Please subscribe to our mailing list to receive updates from our website.

Our Easter Camp this year will run from 3rd to 6th April, for one week only, as follows :-

• Open to members and non-members born before 1st January 2017.
• Suited to boys and girls.
• No gymnastics experience necessary.
• Camp can be booked for 4 days or for 2 days, as outlined on the form.
• Camp time – 9.30-1.00pm Monday to Thursday.
• Places are very limited, first come basis only.
• Please ensure you include all relevant medical or additional information to assist coaches in planning suitable activities.

A little reminder of the dates we are closed for February midterm break to note in your diary – classes as normal the weekend of the 11th and 12th February – closed from Monday 13th to Sunday 19th February, inclusive.

We are currently recruiting gymnastics coaches to join our growing team.

Our club has been established in Athlone for over 30 years training boys and girls in artistic gymnastics, mainly recreational with a small competitive element, by invitation.

We are located just off the M6 motorway, approximately 6km from the centre of Athlone in the growing community of Monksland.  Our gym is very easily accessed by car, with ample car parking and along a main bus route.

We are looking for candidates who enjoy working with children of all ages to help them to reach their potential as well as being able to work as part of a coaching team in a controlled environment.  Other qualities we are looking for are : positive energy, enthusiasm, reliability and of course a love of all things gymnastics.  The ideal candidates should have a recognised gymnastics qualification.  Must be willing to undergo training, safeguarding and Garda Vetting.

Hours are negotiable, salary is based on coaching experience and qualifications.

Applicants must currently be able to work in Ireland.
